As part of the FORGENOM project, our colleague Dr. Jakub Styk visited the Genomics Core Facility (GeneCore) at EMBL Heidelberg, led by Dr. Vladimir Benes. GeneCore is a world-class platform providing cutting-edge expertise in next-generation sequencing, supporting EMBL scientists and researchers across member states.

This visit represents a core element of Building scientific excellence and innovation capacity, where advanced partners share best practices with Comenius University to raise research quality, develop new skills, and expand international collaboration.

By working side-by-side with EMBL experts, Jakub deepened his knowledge, which will be transferred back to the Slovak research environment. These mentoring and training opportunities are key to FORGENOM’s mission of bridging the gap in genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics in Slovakia and fostering a stronger European biomedical research community.
